For more than 150 years, the Department of Posts (DoP) has been the backbone of the country’s communication and has played a crucial role in the country’s social economic development. It touches the lives of Indian citizens in many ways: delivering mails, accepting deposits under Small Savings Schemes, providing life insurance cover under Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) and providing retail services like bill collection, sale of forms, etc.

The DoP also acts as an agent for Government of India in discharging other services for citizens such as Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) wage disbursement and old age pension payments. With more than 1,55,000 post offices, the DoP has the most widely distributed postal network in the world.

Position:- Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS)

Total Posts:- 12828

Qualification:-

• Secondary School Examination pass certificate of 10th standard having passed in Mathematics and English (having been studied as compulsory or elective subjects) conducted by any recognized Board of 3 School Education by the Government of India/State Governments/ Union Territories in India shall be a mandatory educational qualification for all approved categories of GDS.
• The applicant should have studied the local language i.e. (Name of Local language) at least up to Secondary standard [as compulsory or elective subjects

Other Qualifications:-

• Knowledge of computer
• Knowledge of cycling
• Adequate means of livelihood

Experience:- Freshers

Age Limit:-

• Minimum age:18 years
• Maximum age:40 years
• Subject to relaxations as per sub para below
• Age will be determined as on the last date of submission of applications, i.e., 11.06.2023.

Relaxations in upper age limit:

• Schedule Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) – 5 Years
• Other Backward Classes (OBC) – 3 years
• Persons with Disabilities (PwD – 10 Years
• Persons with Disabilities (PwD) + OBC – 13 Years
• Persons with Disabilities (PwD) + SC/ST – 15 Years

Salary:- Rs. 10,000 to 29,380/- per month

India Posts Office Recruitment GDS 2023 Selection Process:- 

• The applicants will be shortlisted for engagement on the basis of a system generated merit list.
• The Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained/ conversion of Grades/Points to marks (as explained in sub paras – iii to ix below) in Secondary School Examination of 10th standard of approved Boards aggregated to percentage to the accuracy of 4 decimals. Passing of all the subjects as per the respective approved board norms is mandatory.

Application Fee:-

• Rs.100/- is to be paid by the applicants for all posts notified in choice of Division. However, payment of fee is exempted for all female applicants, SC /ST applicants, PwD applicants and Transwomen applicants.
